i drive a Japanese 1997 subaru wrx sti 2 door model GC8E with the EJ20K motor as per the engine data plate, single turbo , i was wondering how to check shaft play and things of that nature, never owned a turbo car before. also wondering what this car should be boosting stock, as far as the mods go theres an after market mushroom filter where the stock air box would go, has a down pipe blitz nru exaust or something close to that, i was told the down pipe was changed but to me it looks stock.

Wouldn't worry about shaft play mate you'd know if turbo was on way out..
I think stock boost is 0.9 bar
And pics will help identify any after market products...

thanks for the reply, i will work on getting some pictures taken tomorrow, but i cannot say that they will be good quality as the camera on my phone is a little banged up.

hope this can help a bit, waiting for it to be dry outside to take some actual photos of the car.
