NO you won't NEED a remap.

You will get more of a benefit from the decart by remapping and the car will be quicker aftrewards but it is by no means essential.

If you're not planning on doing any more mods, then might be worth a remap at this point, but if you intend doing further mods, get them done and THEN have a remap.

Probably one of the best pieces of equipment you can fit to a modded car is a knocklink. I think they are invaluable.

There will be an increase in noise with a full decat, but as longs as you stick with a 2.5" system, the noise will be bearable. 3" systems tend to be quite noisy IMHO, especially on the motorway (hence why a lot of them have bungs) and they are total overkill on a lightly modded motor in my opinion. 2.5" is plenty for high 300s bhp.

If you are decatting the car, take all the cats out, best for power, but it will be noisier.

Hope that helps

Rich

I've just removed the cats on my UK300. I have a blitz NUR Spec R system with magnex up and down pipes. By removing the Cats hardly made any difference to the noise. I'm not sure if there's a sensor in the classic up pipe, but if there is the CEL light will come on to indicate no cats are found. This is easily taken care off with a Cel fix.

Doesn't apply to pre 01 cars.

Sports cats are expensive but they also save you from the trouble and expense of changing the exhaust for MOT. And there is also the peace of mind that any roadside emissions checks won't be a problem.

Any cat will act like a silencer compared to a straight through pipe but the effect is not that big.
