Default Injector recommendations please....

A mate of mine has an STi 5 RA, full decat, and has just changed the Turbo to a VF34.

He's planning on changing injectors and replacing the fuel pump and reg before a TEK, but is unsure what size injectors to go for, or where, in fact, to get them.

Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Thanks,
Simon.

RRH: sorry for butting in....

I have an Sti v3, soon to get AndyF TD05 FE, Apexi FC/Andy Mapping and Grouppe S headers. What injectors should I fit? Thinking 550cc are the best. Is this right? Forgot, will fit a Walbro too.
At £500 the set, I can get a FMIC for that, so will the stock injectors do?

I have a TD05 with all supporting mods (FMIC, Headers, 3" Zorst, Link) and my 550s are at 96% (Link) IDC, this is with 3.5bar static fuel pressure. The car recently made 383bhp at ProSport, which is about right if you do the sums.

I previosly had 380s@4bar pressure and they wouldn't get me past 1.2bar@6K and maintain a decent AFR.

I believe it would also be possible to max out 440s if you try hard enough with a TD05

Sorry, lack of detail. Been at work for 12 hours!
Starting again:

Andy F hybrid. All the rest as above. will the stock Sti injectors cope with the turbo and the 'tuning ability' of the Apexi/Andt F map?

I think not, and 550cc etc will give enough headroom to dial-in what I want with a bit to spare.
I have a £2500 budget:

Turbo = 850
Apexi = 700
Pump + pressure = 190
Injectors = 500
FMIC hybrid = 580
Mapping/messing about = ?

About there, but I need a set of Avon slicks too @ 800.

Need to cut back somewhere!

Target is enough power/torque within the capacity of the Sti trans as a 6 speed is out-of-bounds in this budget.

Advice please guys.

i could be wrong but with that spec you could be pushing the 550's, bigger injectors cant harm thats why i went for the 740's i know someone who has max'd 740 cc injectors at 450bhp ish on similar setup

I have a gearbox to think of....
My target is 360 bhp and about 310 Lbft with Andy mapping this in. Next year will be a 6 speeder and a hike to 380 bhp and more torque if it's there.

I don't think I can realy afford a FMIC this Xmas with all the rest, hence the 360 ish bhp.

Think i will go for the 550cc if I can find some new at less than £500. Where can i get some from other than Scoobymania?

Can't you just rase the fuel pressure on the 440's to around 4bar?? would this not make them flow more like 500's?

I ran my 380's at 4bar atmos pressure at 1.5bar boost(TD05, 2.5) 11.2:1 AFR

Aprox 330hp, i would expect 440's to flow 350ish @4bar atmos.

911, I'm pretty sure you're car has 380's as standard, which should be close to the limit now.

The 550's everyone seems to get on here have a single hole in the nozzle, whereas the 740's have more. If I was buying another set, even if i wasn't going to use the full capacity it'd be 740's.

I can't remember the exact values but I calculated 440's to be good for a maximum of 340ish BHP if you want to keep a reasonable IDC. Will have a search for the thread.

I thought StiV3 had 440's?
No problem now, especially as you say the 740's have multi spray holes. 740's it is as they are not so much more than 550's. I'm sure Andy will cut them back.
Thanks for the advice , always helpful to compare notes/thoughts.
