Got a My96 WRX which has knocking noise when in first gear only. No problems in selecting gears. A faint knock can be heard at idle, which stops when you engage the clutch. Any ideas greatly appreciated .

sounds like it could be a tooth missing off first gear, i had the same on mine but mine was alot louder though and undriveable, difficult without looking inside which isn't an easy job

have a look through my thread from a few years back, see if it sounds familiar

hopefully it isn't though
