I have an MY99 RB5 and was thinking of changing the turbo to get some more boost. I'm not sure if mine is on its way out. What turbo should i get for the car? I dont really want a standard one as for similar money i can get a better one like a VF.

Any views/comments would be great

TD05 16G small with a front entry modification will outflow all the standard VF turbos for which there is any decent flow data published which are used on Subarus. It will also spool up almost or as early as the VF28/29/35 which are amongst the best spooling of the VFs.

With a big turbo you don't want an off the shelf map. Needs custom mapping.

Lots more to consider:

Intercooling
Fuelling
Inlet
Exhaust

Try and decide what you want to achieve and/or the budget.

I was aiming for say 280bhp! Not sure what to do to get there though.

280 or near to it depending on rollers - best stick with the TD04 IMHO.
