Ej25 - EJ20 header swap question
i dont know much about the EJ20 engine, but i know alot about N/A tuning!!!
first of all you will be needing to get higher compression pistons as you simply dont get as much air as turbo.
secondly, you will be better of throwing away the standard manifold and getting yourself a set of TB'S (throttle bodies). this will involve getting a new ECU and alot of mapping. expect a cost of about £1500 + a custom manifold (doubt anyone makes one).
after that you will need a decent exhaust, custom made again. you would use a 2.5 design as 3 inch would affect your low down running to much, taking away power (N/A needs plenty of backpressure to close the valves quickly).
thats your basics. Personally your be better of keeping the turbo, or prehaps a supercharger. if you do go N/A then you have got a perfect positin for the TP.s as they would point up and if you was to get a GTi-R bonnet vent they would have perfect breathing!!
