clutch question?
My brother in law RRH is running a standard UK clutch in his STi Type RA ~ with the remap, decat etc he's estimating 310ish.
He had an AP paddle in it before, but it let go just before Rockingham in September and the only replacement that could be found to get to Rockingham was a standard UK clutch at £110.
It has done seven (hard
) track days and about six thousand road miles since with no problems so far.
I think he apprecaites that its not an ideal situation, but is just seeing how long it will last out of interest!
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies, the reason i ask is that i recently had a new genuine subaru clutch fitted by a local clutch specialist because it was starting to slip and i had the car booked in to have a blitz digital boost controller fitted and then a trip to power engineering for an ecu remap. All went really well and the car made 274 Bhp on the rollers! I was really happy until i pulled on to the M25 in third rev counter reached 5000 rpm then broke loose round to the red line! This has happened a few times at full boost and in second gear a couple of times and seems to be getting worse! The clutch is guaranteed for 12,000 thousand miles so i thought even with the extra power it should of lasted more than 600 miles? help!
I thought it was high torque and aggressive driving that killed clutches. I suppose that BHP and torque go together on these cars, so it's accademic really.... I would have hoped that a standard clutch would survive a relatively tame 270ish bhp for a LOT more than 600 miles. I would be back at the specialist being quite annoyed wanting it looked at. (in a polite way of course)
I'm quite happy with my pattern part clutch - was cheaper than a standard Subaru clutch and has a 3 year unlimited mile guarantee with no mention of "if you mod the car then we're not playing"
My car is a currently standard UK turbo, although there are plans afoot for the early spring
A standard car can be made to kill clutche quite quickly as well...
(The mechanic who fitted it (another specialist and rally enthusiast) said that he doubted I would need the guarantee, and no, he didn't supply the clutch.)

can't see you'll get anywhere with the warranty on a clutch unless it litterally breaks or something.
Getting money back or a replacement because of slipping is gonna be a hard one I reckon. The only way it's gonna slip is if it's been abused(your fault) and or above standard power being put through it(again down to you not the component faliure)
