Default 6 speed dccd gearbox oil cooler?

I've been advised to fit a gearbox oil cooler to my Impreza race car that has a Hawkeye 6 speed, questions are: A: does it need one? B: what exactly do I need? C: Where do I find the parts needed? (12v pump etc) D: has anyone got any pictures of one fitted? TIA

Spec c uses a cooler, i think all the 6 speed dccd boxes already have the pumps inside them just blanked off so you would just need the spec c pipes and a spec c rad.

it would be interesting to log gearbox temps nick-it would certainly help with "lifeing" the oil in the box- a cooler would also add capacity- a plus on all counts

These are the parts you need plus either a separate cooler or a spec c radiator

I've seen those but the gearbox hasn't got the external oil pipe or fittings for it so presume that I will need to use an electric pump and use the drain and refill plugs as take offs. Unless I'm missing something of course.

Should have blanking plugs on the side of the box, the fittings connect to the side, the box already has a pump inside.

Spent the evening scouring the net for info, looks like my box (TY856WG8KA) is out of an 07 model which apparently doesn't have an internal pump.

Just to be clear, non Spec C gearboxes, at least the earlier ones, have a different oil pipe which loops those two oil connections. I replaced my Spec C pipes with the normal one as I wasn't planning to use the oil cooler.

That's more or less what I found out.
The car isn't quite finished yet so haven't monitored anything but as stated have been advised to fit a cooler so was aiming to do so. (then found out it wasn't that simple)

The oil pipe is still listed for MY07 6MT (30938AA041) but is NOT for MY08 Hatch onwards................

Nowhere to fit the pipe to on this gearbox, the gearbox/ shafts/hubs/ wishbone/ rear arm set up is out of a 2007 wide track

Also listed for JDM Newage STI to MY07

Maybe the box had been changed previously.

Is the gearbox code still on the bellhousing?

TY856WG8KA which is an 07 UK Hawkeye Sti unit. They don't have an internal pump so no external feed pipe.

Interesting

Not according to Subaru, 2006 yes (an early MY07), even then it should have an external pipe............

Interesting that this TY856WG8KA conversion kit had an external oil pipe
UK vendor on french ebay ( the sale ended section) Even shows code label on box.

That's the same seller as I bought mine from, just realised that I got the code wrong (was doing it from memory) . Anyway we've established that mine hasn't got the oil pipe or pump, as I previously stated I've established that 2007 on gearboxes don't have the oil pump or external feed pipe.
