Free file recovery software for SD card
As above really........I have tried a couple of "free" ones and I can view the recovered files but they then want paying for recovery 
Is there anything that comes with Windows apart from Chkdsk?

i did the same,
Try www.majorgeeks.com
i used one from there, it was dos based, and pulled loads from my SD card
you could try Puran file recovery, takes ages though, and the results for me wer'nt as good as the DOS based proggy i used last year
