Question Android experts - syncing android with a pc?

I have a Nexus 7 which I want to get all my data on to. However I don't use google calendar or contacts as it's all on my ipad/iphone in icloud but is stored on my pc in Outlook.

Is there a way (free of course) to sync my Nexus 7 with my laptop and get all my contacts and calendar into it via Outlook or any other means?

It seems a huge shortfall of android that google doesn't have a desktop client to sync data. Not everyone wants to recreate everything on google's own online calendar and contacts.

Syncing online is a pretty much always a good idea, it would be simple to sync your iPad and then your Nexus with a Gmail account.

Just use gmail, everything syncs beautifully, email, contacts and calendar. It's not a short coming in Android, you are using outdated software, outlook

No it is Google being anti-competative but not allowing the user the option of using Outlook

I have an android phone and find this a pain in the a*se and i dont want all my data stored online and that again should be my choice not be forced by Google

lol Outlook outdated? Try telling the corporate World that. I run my life from Outlook and now also icloud and I just want to integrate my Nexus into that.

Cheers Jura will take a look.

You can sync it with Outlook if you want. I just don't think Gmail/iCloud are particularly good at it.

If you must keep Outlook you should do it *properly* - and for that you need an Exchange account - Rackspace do one for £6.75/m, or if you have a bit more savvy you can use Office365 for £3.50/m per account.

I have my gmail setup as an exchange account on the ipad/iphone so it's all push folders and in Outlook gmail is setup as imap with hotmail accounts using the outlook connector and all works flawlessly.
