Its actually a SD card in a usb stick. It's corrupt and I can't format it or do a chkdsk.
when it's locked it can be read but when it's not then it makes any prog i use "not responding"

is there a hack prog that could bypass the manual lock so it could be checked/repaired/formatted? one of those progs that can lock it down after system bootup maybe?

don't have one. reads fine in camera when unlocked but can't delete pics or format it from there either.

If you have a machine with ubntu installed on it try and format it on there. I have saved many a corrupt memory card that way.
