Broke off the positve terminal arm that clips onto the CMOS watch battery inside an old P233 computer.

Just wondering if the battery will still work without the positive arm clipped to it ? Eg. if I stick the battery down onto the neg terminal will this be ok ?

Mmm, tricky, depends if the contacts are still touching when the battery is glued/nailed/bodged on.

If you are handy with a soldering iron, nip down to Maplins/RS and get yourself a battery holder. Either one that fits the current cmos battery or any other that will run a battery of the correct voltage.

Disclaimer - I don't recommend the glue/nail way. Just incase you need to change the battery in future

If you are going to leave the computer on all the time the its no problem.

Set the cmos stuff up everytime you switch open the computer or just leave it on all day

its for a mate who doesn't know anything about clock multipliers that need setting up for the cpu.

Its a P233MMX but the bios defaults it to a 133MHz cpu.
