Default BT HOME HUB + XBOX 360

Is there anyone out there that is using the BT Homehub v2 + Xbox 360 ?

How did you set yours up, as Im having major problems getting both of them to work together. The xbox doesnt see the homehub at all, the network settings just stay blank.

Any help would be appreciated.

are you trying wirelessly? if so, there are issues with wireless channels in congested areas, the homehub is set to automatic, and will automatically search for a new channel, which is fine unless a neighbouring hub or two are doing the same thing, it then keeps periodically changing channels..........also channel 12 and 13 are incompatible with some devices.....

to check and or change your hub settings

type http://api.home in your browser

make a note of the admin password on the rear of the hub, and change it to a new one of your choice

click settings

click advanced advanced settings

click continue to advanced settings

click wireless

click channel selection

pick a channel

click apply

make sure the speed is displayed as 130mbps afterwards.

(also if you are ONLY connected to your pc using the ethernet cable and are not using anything else wirelessly, it is possible that the wireless is switched off on the hub follow the above procedure, and make sure the 'wireless connections enabled' is set to 'yes'.

Im trying to connect it wired.

The problem Im getting is when I can get connected to xbox live its fine, but soon as I turn off the xbox I cant reconnect. The only way I can get it to work is if I remove the ethernet cable from the homehub and put it into a different port.

I do have other routers in house, Netgear & D-links, but I just preferred to get the homehub working.

I've heard of a lot of 360 gamers losing connection in game with wireless adaptors, I have mine hardwired direct to the router, just use the Wifi for my laptop and blackberry

Sorry in the delay in the replies, just back from a wee holiday.

Well I got to the bottom of the problem, BT sent me a new Homehub 2 type A and I got a Homehub 2 type B myself 2nd hand.

The xbox plays up when I use the type A hub, with random disconnects and general farting about with the cables to get it to work. With the type B hub it worked straight out of the box and has been rock solid from day one,. Not on glitch at all, no messing about with cables or anything. I also fitted the free I-plate they sent and my speed has increase a little bit aswell.

HomeHubs have always been notorious for being utter gashfull, god i had about 3 of them, my mother had two of them, and most people i know have had more than one.
