PTMW,
I've used it a bit but doesn't really extend very well. Most of our applications need a bit more than just drawing a few boxes over the maps, or moving a car symbol about over a map.
If this is exactly the type of application you are thinking of, then it will be fine and there is plenty of documentation on programming it and intergrating it into other apps.
I spent a lot of time looking at full and not so full GIS applications for use within our apps. Mapoint fell short by a huge margin.
However, MS have noticed the huge amount of growth in the GIS market so no doubt the next version will be much better, with proper GIS functions. Give it a few years and they'll be market leader
Seriously, if you need proper mapping, look seriously at the ESRI stable of tools if you program in VB / C++ or need web server access. However, not cheap.
If you just need in application use only, there are quite a few libraries about that will do mapping with proper GIS support. A smost of our work is with Delphi, we looked hard at these and are now using some.
Erm, that'll do. Let me know if you need more.
Cheers
Ian
