Work mate is having problems watching blu ray from her laptop to tv. They have it connected via HDMI but get purple screen when trying to view it through the tv.

Can anyone help?

without any information I would guess that the laptop resolution does not match the TV.

Is the TV 1080i/p and is the laptop outputting the same format?

tv is full HD and not sure on laptop setup to be honest. Assuming as it came with a blu ray player built in that the video card / graphics are setup ready to go?

i would get you need to get into the control panel settings for the graphics card and set the 2nd/external display to the correct and compatible settings.

drop the resolution on the laptop to 800 x 600 and see if the laptop appears on the tv.If it does then gradualy increase the laptop resolution till the picture vanishes on tv.Then you will find out the max res the tv supports.

My pc is set at 1680 x 1050 .But to use my tv i have to lower it to 1366 x 768 to get the pc to show on the tv.
