Default quick question - xbox360 component cable

I've just taken delivery of my £60 xbox360 and it appears the previous owner was confused about the HDMI output - it doesn't have one, but for £60 I couldn't care less.

So, I'm looking to buy an official component cable. Can someone with this cable (it has at least 5 wires, not the "composite" cable with 3) tell me if its possible to separate the audio L+R cables from the rest ? My amp sits under the Xbox360 and will take the Audio L+R cables, but my projector sits 6ft away and takes the remaining cables.

yeah, I know. What I want to know is, if someone has the official cable - can you "pull away" the audio from the video cables back down to the xbox360 end ?

If you use the optical, for that full surround sound experience , then the pick up point is off the plug at the back of the 360. If I was using extension leads I'd put them on the audio.

Ditto - the plug of the cable that connects to the 360 has an toslink socket on it.

ah, that's good - I'll just use a spare TOSlink cable then!

If you want, you can also get an official RGB (scart) for the box, just as good as component, and you can still run the sound optically if you want.
