Never heard of this, but it does sound very handy compared to laying new cables!
I have a wireless home network, its ok, but playing games or transferring data is not very reliable or quick.
So I gather I plug one of these things downstairs where my internet comes in, then another in the room that I have the PC in right? Is it as reliable as a normal ethernet based network?

Couple more reviews which should hopefully answer questions on speed and reliability:

I should be getting a demo set-up through soon for field trials, as I want to move a PC out into the garage.

Well I've replaced my wireless setup with a Netgear powerline solution, and it's much much better. Doesn't keep dropping out, and the throughput is much better. I just plugged it between two switches and it worked straightaway - no config needed.

I'm selling 3 Powerline bridges - 11Mbps with encryption. Older ones, so require set-up (comes with software). They also have Swiss plugs, but they fit into UK sockets OK. 50 Euro each plus postage from Dublin.
Furthest I tested them was 200 metres, from my house to neighbours - didn't test speed or thoughput, but it connected and I could browse no problem. Note that they will only connect houses together as far as the nearest isolating transformer
