Sorting out my MP3s
Something has duplicated all my MP3s and added a number to each track, so whereas when I ripped my MP3s using itunes I had
artist folder
trackname
I now have
artist folder
trackname
01 trackname
so everything has been duplicated and a track number added to it!! I was mucking around with Media Centre, so maybe that did it.
Question is, how can I remove all these duplicates quickly?
regards,
greg

itunes has a drop down that is called Show Duplicate files. Run that, sort via date added and then delete with confidence.
obvioulsy dont blame me if you delete everything by accident.

itunes doesn't spot them as duplicates!! I've worked they all have a similiar create date from March of this year, so a search of mp3's created on that date showed up 2800 files!!!

View 'all music' in win media player, sort file names alphabetically thus getting all the numbered ones grouped together. Select all (of the numbered duplicates) and 'delete from library and my computer'.
I think that'd work if you're feeling brave! I'd backup first though as I know how annoying ripping everything again is.
