How to hide an X-Box purchase from the misses?

I'm itching to buy an X-Box! I want to play Gotham Racing and Halo and other games you can't get on PS2. I've got a PC but never get to use it for games so have to stick with consoles.
I'd buy one 2nd hand for around £100 and she knows there are about this price.
My problem is I just spent lots on my car getting it mapped and I'm a bit skint this month (and possibly more to follow ) and shes a bit miffed cos she found the invoice and wants new bedroom furniture and most definately not an X-Box.
What to do? Hide it behind the TV and wait for her to go out before using it?

I must admit I've dropped the odd hint that they had come down in price and during a recent trip to Toys R Us for the nipper I tried to get her to have a look at the X-Boxs but she wouldn't have it.
I suggested we sell the PS2 to fund the X-Box which fell on deaf ears as she wouldn't be able to use her dance mat with the X-Box.

Do you have a DVD player? If not, get it chipped and install the DVD program and there you go, A games machine and DVD player in one
(you can also buy the DVD add-on without chipping as well if you prefer)..

As it happens the DVD player packed up a while ago and the playback through the PS2 isn't great. Bit more to add to the petition.
Can't be too heavy handed or its a case of "Theres the sofa, you can get your own pillow."

This sounds TOO familiar
Well technically, half my xbox belongs to the missus - SOMEONE bought it for us as an anniversary present (ahem). (Yes I'm still reminded about it on a regular basis )
My car is with my tuner at the mo having lots done, so when I got paid today I was told (in a face that REALLY means it) NO GAMES THIS MONTH
As for your dilemma, maybe something really bad happened to you at work and you consoled yourself with an X-Box (no console pun intended !!!)
All the best.....

My wife wasnt bothered about the money, just the aesthetics of the thing, the PS2 was fine apparently but the Xbox neccessitated the purchase of a 300 quid tv cabinet from Next, shot myself in the foot there !
anyway, saw this, price cut to 99 dollars in US so there may be a price cut over here, if it drops to 70 quid I will buy another to
