Windows 2000 Password Probs

Anyone got any suggestions. A friend has somehow messed up password access to his PC (Windows 2000).
Is there anyway he can get into his machine, as apparently he has loads of work on there he needs access to. I believe the password is 7 characters long, and everything was fine til this morning. The O/S is possibly of dubious origin...
Anyone able to suggest anything, or somewhere on the net to look?
