I have a problem with my Windows 2000 Administrator profile.

Problem:

The keys on the keyboard don't correspond correctly, ie u=4, 1=5, etc.

I have tried renaming the Administrator profile, but it doesn't let me do it.

I have created another user and this works fine.

Any ideas?

How weird.

Don't know if this will work, but I'd try creating another Administrator accout, ensure the profile for that new account is ok, and copy the new profile over the corrupted Administrator profile (via right click on My Computer, Properties, Advanced, User Profiles).

Use a different user name. Other accounts can have the same rights as the Administrator.

The reason I mention the numlock key is because my laptop does the same. The setting is also saved in your profile.

Oh well, thought that would have sorted it..

Why don't you just login as the other admin user and delete the local administrator profile?

You can copy the profile somewhere safe first in case you need anything restored i.e. favourites, desktop icons, etc..

Once deleted, just login as the original admin account and it'll create a new one for you.

H,

Nice one . I just logged in as Administrator and the Numlock was on. Switched the Numlock off and everything works OK.

Thanks for all the help.
