Default Iphone battery

Have had bad run down power on 4g... Like gets into red at 20 % and then visibally dropping by the second.

What could be doing this?

New ( supposedly) battery end February, now on 86 % health .

Was one of the "cheap" replacements (25 quid )

This doesn't encourage much

Go into mobile data setting and switch off mobile data for the apps that you have no need for it. That’ll narrow it down.

As for the battery, Pays your money takes your choice.

Just had mine replaced for €40 by a repair shop in Carrefore, couldn’t get it done by Apple as the screen has a tiny crack in the corner as I’m not in the mood to fork out for another screen I’m likely to smash again (never had this issue with the 4s and 5).

Two weeks in its still on 100%, but I guess time will tell.

At today’s exchange rate £5 more.

But it works out a lot cheaper because he did it without causing further damage to the screen, and seeing the nearest Apple store for me in the UK is Solihull or Birmingham, I can easily add £20 on top of that for the fuel and parking costs! Also it took 20mins from being served to collecting and paying, last time I went to an Apple store I waited that long just to be served despite booking an appointment!

And of course, as mentioned they will want to replace the screen!

In hindsight I should have had a new battery the last time the screen was replaced, but they weren’t doing the discount at that time.

I’d probably finish off the screen if I tried it myself

If you go into settings / battery you can see which apps are draining the battery the most. However, that said, after updating to ios 12.1, my battery was draining at a phenomenal rate. I ended up turning down the brightness on the screen, turning off all the push data features and then turning off all location services and only enabling them when needed. Seems to be fine now.

I was hoping to take advantage of the "cheap" replacement battery "deal" that Apple have running until the end of Dec, but because my screen has been replaced in the past from a.n.other company, Apple wouldn't touch my phone.

Surprised, my battery is 95% Max Capacity after two years of ownership (new 5SE), thought it would be much less.

The battery on my iPhone was decreasing rapidly, thought it was knackered so I took it into the local phone repairs. Turns out the battery was ok and the problem was a faulty U2 chip inside. I said what would cause that to happen and the guy said either cheap charger cables or I’m letting it over charge, damaging the microchip inside. Anyway, 6 months later and it’s been absolutely fine.

Still in 100% on mine.

So yeah, either a knock-off or faulty battery or it wasn’t replaced!

Charged using a genuine charger or a Pioneer AVIC car play radio....with Amazon basics cables.

Another vote for Anker stuff, that and Rav Power are the best
