Default Help to get rid of Bing and Yahoo from windows 10?

For some reason, despite having removed both Bing and Yahoo from my allowed search engine, and having Google as my home page, searching for anything in Google now defaults to Yahoo.

Obviously, searching for how to get rid of it, IN it, gives very little

Can anyone help me get rid? In easy to understand English please.

Does this work...

To change your default engine, follow the steps below:
  • Navigate to Google.com
  • Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the browser window, then click on 'Settings'
  • Go down to the bottom and click 'View Advanced Settings'
  • Scroll down until you see 'Search in the address bar with', click on it and select 'Add New'
  • Then click on Google and select 'Add as default'
After completing these steps, your default search engine will be set to Google. If you would like to go back to Bing, you can select that engine from the drop down list. If you would like another engine besides Bing or Google, simply navigate to the search engine page and follow steps 2-5 above.

OK, been trying this.

1. It defaults to Google.co.uk whatever I do.
2. Clicking on the three dots (bars?) doesn't give me anything called settings.
3. There is settings at the bottom of the page, but opening it doesn't have anything like "search in the addres bar, or anywhere to type it.

Hmmmmmmm

Firefox.
Virgin Media recommend it over Chrome, they say Chrome allows too many security issues.

Anyway, I've stopped it.
I had installed something called "Privacy Badger" and also "Safe search". deleting both has got me back to where I was.

I've been using Firefox for a few years with no problems at all, but anything is better (imo) than IE or Edge.

Are you sorted now?
