I was thinking iPhone 8 Plus but now I've just seen the LG V30. A little smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus but packs a 6 inch QHD OLED screen and a more useful wide angle as opposed to telephoto second lens. Also has a proper HiFi quality quad DAC for excellent sound quality through a headphone jack. This is the front runner for me at the moment.

I'm not sure if this helps but obviously it will lead to greater longevity.

I've got a note 8, I did the pre order so have had it for a week now, i have found the battery to be very good, the actual phone is only marginally bigger than an s8+ and the camera is very good, the display is excellent and yes it is expensive but i did the 0% on the samsung upgrade program.
I was looking at the iphone but i've had them in the past and just not a fan, the work phone was an iphone.
It's very much down to personal preference at the end of the day

Despite being an iPhone user, I'd go for the Note 8. The screen on the Note is absolutely stunning. Can't believe Apple still haven't gone OLED on the iPhone 8.
I know the X is OLED, but that notch out the top really detracts, and IMO the corners of the screen are too rounded.

Haven’t handled the Note 8 yet, I bet it is nice. Hopefully not too hot.
The round corners on the iPhone X fit iOS 11, it’s a pet peeve of mine, reminds me I don’t have one, tin foil hats at the ready. The next iPad will have round corners too.

That seems like a step back if that's the case - just different for different's sake. The media that you consume on these devices comes in a symmetrical shape - you don't get movies with rounded corners or phones with rounded corners. A slight rounding is acceptable as you barely losing anything, but I think it's too much on the iPhone X.

I couldn't see the 128gb version but won't you get stung with duty when ordering from them so cheaper to buy a UK model?
