Consider yourself one of a billion. There's nothing you can do other than take care until an update is provided by your phone manufacturer.

As an ex full time security professional I'm sent all Major security alerts. It's my duty to inform as many people as I can.
Even if it's bad news and 95% of users won't get a fix at least they know and can avoid using affected devices.

I wasn't aware of this, none of the sources I get mailshotted by have flagged it up.

I'm always a bit wary when claims are made that 'an advanced threat detection system' us needed to limit the risk from a vulnerability, when the claim is made by a company who offer an 'advance threat detection system'.

A bit more reading around shows that android Verify Apps, which has been a native feature of Android since about 2012, and will already provide adequate protection against the QuadRooter vulnerabilty.

BTW my Xperia Z3+ reports 4 CVE's when the app is ran.

"The fourth vulnerability, CVE-2016-5340, will be addressed in an upcoming Android security bulletin"

Yeah, kind of.
