Default Sandisk Media Drive Nicceee

so i bought this

http://www.sandisk.co.uk/products/wireless/media-drive/

Was originally going for the wifi USB, but got this instead, what a great piece of kit.

So you fill it with anything Music MKV files any format, and then sniff it out via wifi on your pad phone etc, open up the APP that comes from the app store, and click your content, Job Done. Now for MKV with DTS etc, just click the Item and keep clicking it then asks you which app Point it to VLC or XBMC and walla plays anything.

Ive also managed to stream 3 devices at 720P without fault.

It also has Wifi passthru so as your connected to its own proprietary wifi, you can surf the web also, as the unit locks onto your own wifi.

does backups etc of your photos etc

good gadget

Does this offer up it's own wifi or do you need to plug it into a wifi router for IP addressing?

Just wondering if I could leave it plugged in the car and use as a local router for the ipad etc and to grab films from it?

thanks for the heads up!

I throw all the kids stuff on and Mine and just have it in the glovebox they watch happily in the back

Mega thing I have to say, Ive just ordered a 128GB sd card to complement it so 196gb in the size of a matchbox

Cheers littleted

Think it'll be my next investment along with a couple of el-cheapo tablets for the kids and maybe even one for the front passenger!

I bought one of the Verbatim drives as it allows you to plug a usb drive into which was a good option as far as I'm concerned.

Bought a load of these for work. Absolutely brilliant device with the benefit of a network port for placing large volumes of data on the drive.

Size wise they are not much larger than your wallet.

Only problem I've found with others is the ability to open files from it in another app, the sandisk is just over 2 inch square and the app that drives it. Works like a dream.

Can't say I've tested the others do they allow you to play any movie on ipad android etc?

The verbatim works great but unless I change my media to mp4 the iPad won't see it and I can't use other sort ware to play it as it connects via an iOS app.

Ok so on my Z2 android the sandisk app plays mp4 fine, but anything like MKV you keep the video pressed and another menu pops up that allows you to open it in xbmc or vlc or whatever great stuff.

On the ipad you click the video and it automatically pops up with vlc or real player.

However what I have noticed is the ipad 2 struggles, it's not the streaming but the pure grunt needed to play them, it works then stutters, I then tried the exact same on the z2 and it was as smooth as anything.

IPad Air is fine
