Cant say Ive tried a steamer yet, although I have got one and will no doubt sooner or later. Have used the steamer on the caravan seats and again they were fine. Id of thought they would be ok TBH but hang on for someone who has actually tried it...someone must of!

what kind of steamer is it?
if it extracts the steam after its sprayed it, it will be fine, if its just a steamer that shoots out steam with no way of sucking it back up, i would not bother, you will make it worse and leave loads of water marks when it dries out

One thing to keep in mind is that the fabric is bonded to the foam in the seats and as steam is hot it may cause the glue to melt and then your fabric may become detached and saggy
No one wants a saggy lady under them so i'd be rather cautious and not use steam........just in case
Dave.

Never steam cleaned interiors, only wet and dryed, so can't add anything, other than be careful, as the heat output might be detrimental. I have seen endless carpets brought up beautifully with steam cleaners, but not many people use steam on seats.

I have used a steamer on seats, best way of doing it, steam a small area, say half a seat cushion then using a towel wipe the area off, as its steam there really isnt that much moisture (1l of water will produce enough steam to do all the seats), especially when comparing it to a wet vac extractor which will use around 4 or 5 times the amount of water.

The Vax steam cleaner will not damage your seats or shrink them, so do not worry and do what you bought the device for! If you are still unsure about that try some professional steam cleaning service first that will surely put you at ease.
But good to know.
