Default gong for it...

'Going for it' is what the title should read.

So at the tender age of 40 I have decided to go for a bike licence as its something i've always wanted to do as I love bikes. So hopefully I pass my CBT then wondering what would be a good 1st bike.. I like the look of sport bikes and seen the Yamaha CBR125 bikes but not sure if they are suitable for a 5ft10 15stone guy.

Are you just doing your cbt or doing a full licence?
I canít imagine a 125 will be very comfortable or quick.
if youíve got a bit of road sense and can ride the bike you canít fail. Youíll ride around a carpark for a few hours then go out on the road.

Cdt is easy if 16 year olds can pass it. Itís more of a training day than a test. Have you ridden a bike?
i made sure I did mine before the new test came in, I donít think the full test itís that bad just got a few different parts to it.

I'm on the wrong side of 40 myself, been out of the saddle for 15 years or so. Scratched the itch that never went away, and got a GSXR 600 a couple of years ago. More than enough power, I'm around the same height and weight to yourself. I'd strongly advise not to but a 125, you'll soon get fed up with it. If your sensible about riding, then you will have no issues with a bigger bike - A friend of mine did his text a couple of years ago and got himself a Kawasaki ER 650 N (I think that's right) Cracking all rounder, plenty of torque for what you need, handles fantastic and is very comfy. Sorry I can't help with what the test is like nowadays, cant see it being much more involved than it used to be though
