Default power steering question

right I have finally got my Scooby on the road today, done oil change and mini service, however it has been stood for 3 months.

having started to move it about on the drive this evening as it was going dark I have found that the steering seems "notchy" I have also noticed as i'm turning the steering wheel a "chelp" similar to when the belt is slipping when on full lock, although it still hasn't actually reached full lock, if that makes sense?

I have not had chance to get out and check the power steering fluid since but when I had the under tray off while changing the oil, there was no obvious signs of any leaks

my lad suggested it could be because it has been stood?

this was somewhat echoed by the woman I bought the car off, as she said it was a bit notchy on one occasion when she had left it for a few weeks at the airport while she was away. however she has never heard the "chelp" as the wheel is turned......or so she claims?

any ideas

it's a 99 uk spec turbo

its something that has crossed my mind, without looking im not sure, never work on one of these before to see how its adjusted or to know if there is too much play (movement) on the belt, guess I might be looking on you tube in the morning.

not managed to get onto you tube to see if theres any vids on how to adjust. anyone got any pics of how/where what to adjust, it just with all of the tensioners and pulleys I don't want to undo the wrong thing and result in damaging something else.
