Where to start.... What's your budget, what are your plans? Will it be a daily driver? We all have our own views on which is best.

I wouldn't say so, it's completely dependent on the car. What model or year STI/WRX. what power plant it has, it's service history, even how clued up or meticulous the previous owner is. There's several hundreds of pages on here regarding info on certain models, wrx vs sti etc. have a search maybe?!

I've bought wrx's for my dailys personally but I didn't buy them to modify in anyway. I'l certainly be buying an STI soon though as I plan to heavily modify it and it won't be a daily driver.
