Unhappy

Hi,
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix the passenger rear door exterior surround /trim which has come adrift on my MY99. I took it to my dealer and they just gave me a replacement for the clip which holds it on, but it is the hole in door pillar which is too big so it just pops out again. I am thinking of glueing it around the rubber edge of the trim to hold it in place, is this a good idea and what glue should I use?

Question

It is the black plastic bit that surounds the door frame. The window lays onto it when the door is closed. It is the rear edge that has come adrift and there is now a 5mm gap which lets rain in.

Cool

I think I know the one you mean. If it was me, I would glue it with the black windscreen paste that they use on Windscreens and other fixed glass windows. You won't need much and it won't show. I guess somewhere like halfords will do a tube of it.

Hope this helps
Gareth.

Wink

If you can get to the hole that is too large for the plastic clip could you put a piece of tap over it and cut a cross in it with a knife.. then push the clip in and the hole will be slightly smaller.. and hopefully that should do it..

If that is still to big a hole (oooer) then try some double sided and do the same and then the clip will be help by the double sided as well as being in a slightly tighter hole (oooer).
