Default Anti lift kit fitted :)

Need to get the tracking done again, but by far my best buy. Under acceleration and braking so much better. Well worth it for anyone considering it

Rather than start another thread can I ask. I have 180mph clocks fitted and have just fitted a kmh/mph converter, the one inbetween the two leads near the gearbox. I checked it was reading properly with a sat nav and its about 8mph slow (speedo). Could it possibly be the tyres I have on it 215/45/17 as mine is supposed to have 16's.

Yes it can effect the speedo but not to sure by how much.SJ.

Yeah I had read that. Also the speedo needle is right at the bottom of the 0mph, never noticed that before so not sure wether that's how it should be or not?

Sharper steering, less lift when accelerating etc. if your considering, do it mate honestly.

Sorted the issue with the speedo, needle was in the wrong place.

I'd be too lazy to remove it!!

Can I ask you, have you lost any sensation of acceleration/speed?

Reason I ask is its the sensation I crave, could only be doing 30 mph but if it felt fast I would be happy.

Dont know if that actually made sense!!

If you have a classic on 17s i believe you should run 215/40/17
http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html has a rolling radius calc toward the bottom.

would only account for a 2.49 mph inaccuracy though with your 45's

Not sure what you mean mate. Tbh it feels like I can get to speeds quicker if that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply, what I meant but didnt explain properly, is now the car doesnt lift as much on acceleration, does if "feel" slower?

I dont want my car to become boring in the sense that I only know its going fast by looking at the speedo, instead of actually "feeling" its fast.

I'm pretty sure the ALK will increase dive and lift - despite it's name. I think your feelings are deceiving you.

How are these terms applicable to large upgrade units (Whiteline, Perrin, & GT Spec)? These kits, to varying degrees, decrease your car's natural anti-lift and anti-dive characteristics. This will soften the front suspension during acceleration and braking and a softer suspension will even out the load on the front tires, giving a higher total total cornering load available or more front end grip. Another way of looking at this is that under acceleration or braking, the effective spring stiffness is lower, reducing the front end anti-roll resistance, hence reducing weight transfer at the front and less understeer.
I bought my car with the ALK fitted already, so have never experienced the back to back difference.

Mine drives much better with this fitted and IMO controls acceleration better.

Yes, ALK actually does the opposite of what's on the tin

With an almost horizontal bottom arm the OE set up has virtually no anti dive, the ALK reduces the anti dive further, it does not increase it

The OE anti-dive is set for a 'works for everyone' but is IMHO, personal preference. I like less, or at least the OE amount, but always fit offset bushes for the increased castor and the benefits that brings

Must be in my head then. It definatly feels more planted under braking and acceleration. And unless there was an issue with the bushes that came off it definatly feels like its reduced lift
