Would you swap...?
This -

for this (but a different colour)?

Bit of a dilemma - a 320bhp flat 6 with sports exhaust, only 230 in the UK, potential future classic.
Lightweight body and wheels, brilliant drive.
Or, 240bhp screaming supercharged 4 pot, lightweight, not many left in the UK, holding their value extremely well.
Again, a brilliant drive.

If I had the Porsche, I'd stick with it. The Lotus will probably be the better car for an outright blast, but the Porsche will be the better car to own, live with, Residuals etc.
Think you may `wish you hadn't` if you do swap!!

Thanks chaps.
I've had an Exige before - I bought the Spyder after the Exige was written off (Moley may remember?).

Can't make up my mind what to do.
I'm going to look at a black Exige S 240 next week.
This car will only be a weekend / take- it -out -whenever- I -get -the -chance car.
I also found I had more room once in the Lotus than I do the Spyder, although admittedly I look like a goon trying to get out the Lotus
I'm actually very surprised by the leanings of most of you towards the Porsche!
Can I ask why you think I should keep it?

Forgot - to throw a bit of a spanner in the works, I've also been given the chance to take an Alfa 4C, but not until August / September 2014....

By then you might be able to do a straight swap for the 4C if Spyder prices continue to rise - although I'd keep it, but I'm biased!
Unless there's something about the Porsche you don't like, I'd hang onto it for dear life! Lovely car and different too.
Your Exige nearly killed you and however quick they are, I just don't rate how Lotus put their cars together. I've only driven a 111R but it was so badly made, it put me off the marque for life.

But I think in life we have to get over these minor issues - I won't know how I feel until I've driven one again.
It could make or break my decision!
There's not much else to go wrong in them really, and are very cheap to run (all things being equal).
The Alfa is a very interesting proposition - journos have driven it, and although it has its foibles (a 4 pot engine for a start and no manual gearbox), I think it could be a fantastic car.
But, 7-8 month wait for it could be the killer for me.
I've just been out in the Spyder with the roof off as usual, and got caught in the heaviest downpour for a long time.
But, I feel cheered by the knowledge that I've given a bit of seasonal mirth to all the cars that passed me whilst I calmly ( ok, frantically) tried to put the roof on in record time (I failed, and got **** wet through...)
I'm sure I could hear '...... Ha ha ha haaaaa........******...!' as they drove past.
Not yet managed to get out in an Exige, although I have had a test drive in a 1M.
Had a good px price and the deal was pretty good, but...as good a car as it is I'm not feeling it special enough over the Spyder.
I used to be a massive fan of turbos, but they don't seem to do it for me now - reminded me too much of my 996tt - I got bored quickly with that and I think I would with the 1M.
The 1M was a bit of a left-field choice in that it's really too practical - apart from that and the Exige, I can't think of anything else I could / would swap for.
Looks like I may be stuck with the Spyder...

Sadly if you don't like turbos, your options will rapidly diminish.
The 1M has the old N54 bi-turbo engine. The M135i has the newer twin scroll N55 unit; more efficient and many say, less leggy. The 1M is more focused overall though.
I reckon you'll eventually manage to come to terms with the tradegy of sticking with your Spyder... ;-)
