Red face The most powerful Peugeot production car EVER!!

Well for now that is

http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/f...z-r-2013-11-14

The twin scroll 1.6ltr units are really good on these cars and they are a nice place to be, the RCZ-R may be the first of many "R" cars from the PSA group.

So I could have spent a mere £2k more and got a 1.6 litre Peugeot instead of an M135i.

Errmmmm….

I think both have a twin scroll turbo though ;-)

I bet you if you catch the turbo off-boost it will be awful. Tubby's farts probably have more guts.

Front wheel drive, that will be handy for going straight when you actually want to turn

0-60 in 5.9?
That's slower than a stock UK classic!

A mate had an RCZ, said it was THE most disappointing car he'd ever driven.

Don't get me wrong, I like the way they look but just no. You could have a really nice BM, Merc, Audi for that.

I was stunned when I saw the new 208 GTi was 20k. I'll stick with my 2k 1.9

The RCZ-R has a front LSD, 380mm Alcon brakes, not much in the way of torque steer and a twin scroll turbo, I have an RCZ and all i can say is that its a really nice car to drive, handles well, goes well, stops better than a wrx or classic comes fully loaded and has a large boot

Alcazar, I think your mate couldnt drive it actually gets good reviews for the standard model, including the handling, not found this numb steering they keep going on about, better than my classic scoobs ive had, the 1.6 270bhp unit should be quite interesting though, its the way forward for quite a few manufacturers, low emissions and twin scroll (oh and they are surprisingly good on fuel, they are low revving units, only about 100 rpm more at 70mph than my 1.6 diesel turbo )
Its expensive, granted, but its also lighter than a classic uk car and fwd

I think they look ok if a little 'hairdressy'. I can't see why one would get one over an Audi TT though?

Never compare Aldi to CRaP.

(CRaP= Citroen, Renault and Peugeot)

Tesco Value would be a more fitting comparison

I'm afraid only females and gay men would get away with driving that!

Aldi TT is quite fitting except aldi do decent stuff for less money, Audi do crap stuff for lots of money (oh and don't forget your AA membership as you will need it for a tt )

On a serious note though, the RCZ isn't a girls car, its not for hairdressers, its a sports coupe and ive got to say, 300 miles later on Motorway and A roads and mine is giving me 50mpg and im sticking to the speed limits, its comfy, has enough poke, has all the toys you need, has decent build quality for a pug, holds its value quite well also, plus it does look stylish, better lines than the TT, and the RCZ-R is the best car that Peugeot have released (well the RCZ really and the 208 GTI) since the 306 GTI, the last Peugeot I actually went and purchased as nothing since hit all the buttons )
You also have to remember the 208 GTI is 18k, that's the same price the 306 GTI was when it was released in 1996, the RCZ-R is more expensive than the standard RCZ, but they drive really well (the 156 and 200 are both petrol and the 163 is the 2ltr HDI unit).
People can sit there and slate Peugeot, the French have had a reputation for quality, well not really quality, electrics, mainly the door looms that cause the biggest issue on the PSA cars, and yet people still go out and buy a 2.5ltr Subaru STI.... hmmmm makes you think

I've got a Peugeot bicycle in the shed

In seriousness I'm working on cars on a daily basis and one major (expensive) thing that is cropping up on PSAs on a weekly basis (amongst other faults) is knackered cams/lifters on 1.6HDi units and every Ford, mini, Mazda, suzuki and Volvo it's also fitted in. If the Scoobs 2.5 is a bad unit this is worse by an epic proportion due to the sheer volume of them in production. I used to like them - until they started going wrong
