Question Another whats it worth please 2003 JDM STI

Hi Guys,

My boys are now 17 and 19 now and I'm thinking (well actually the wife is) about changing to get a small car I could get them insured on. Any ideas where I should advertise (I'm thinking on here for a start) and what price I should ask ?

My car was imported new in 2003 by David Hendry Cars of Wiltshire, I'm the second owner
The car is used weekends only (it sits in the garage and I drive the family estate car during the week) and it has covered just over 35,000 miles. Serviced every year by Paul at Extreme Scoobies, kept all the receipts, not long since been serviced in fact. Mapped on Esso Super by Bob Rawle on 23rd October 2004.

Standard stuff includes HID headlights, DCCD-A, quick rack, rear wash/wipe and cheap car tax (about £220 iirc).

My car as it was supplied with 17" gold wheels

Now with 18" silver wheels

I also had a CAT-1 alarm, Knocklink, DIPOL gearbox lock, active sub-woofer and uprated front speakers fitted. I'll list everything and add loads of photos when I get around to doing a proper listing.

So, what's a fair asking price for a 10 year old STI albeit in really nice condition please?

It's difficult to price JDM cars as they're only worth what someone will pay for one.

I suspect you could be nudging five figures for that on a good day but would be assured somewhere around the £9k mark.

In the current market I'd say with that milage around £8.5/ 9k is about spot on depends how fast you want rid.

Personally i'd buy them a £500 banger each and let them get some no claims in their own names and keep the scoob, they'll be off on their own in a couple of years and you'll be left scratching you bollox of a weekend wishing you never sold it.

I'd say 8k for a quick sale or a bit more if you can afford to wait for the right buyer. It's a buyers market for this type of car right now so getting top money can be difficult. I agree with Ditch though, the kids will wreck whatever you buy them & won't appreciate your sacrifice.

Thanks Guys, I had no idea it might fetch that sort of money. I will probably put it on for around 8K then and hope to get ~7.5K. Must sort out a couple of new tyres for the front first though.

As for the banger, I like the sentiment but don't like the idea of them driving around in something that would just fold up on them in an accident.

03 JDM STi with 35k miles on the clock I wouldnt pay anymore then £8k for it, but got to be worth around that???

Wish my parents bought me a car when I first started to drive, My old man always told me that he was never given anything in his life and had to work for everything he got, and thats how I should go through life, never expect anything and you will never be dispointed!!

I was 19 when I bought my first Impreza, insurance was a killer, but managed to do it all myself!!!
