Hi all,

I am very new to Subaru ownership and have run into my first issue.

I find that when accelerating the car wants to pull to the right, then when I lift off the throttle but leave the car in gear it pulls to the left.

I have changed the front right wheel bearing today as it was shot, but the car is still pulling to one side.

The car is a 2004 Sti with a few engine mods.

It also has BC coilovers

Any help is much appreciated, wracking my brains with this one!

Assuming the tyres are good, it sound like a lower arm bushing has worn or track rod is on its way out on the nearside (left) front - what is probably happening is the front left wheel is toeing in too much on acceleration causing it to pull right and then toeing out when lifting off causing it to pull left. So basically look at anything that can affect the front end toe (usually that is the track rods and lower arms).

Sloppy Lower arm bushings can be difficult to diagnose, generally speaking its done with the car in the air and a pry-bar and comparing the movement with the other side (assuming the other side is ok).

Good advice, I found that the left hand ball joint was loose, luckily I had a spare, but after changing it the car still pulled to one side.
I refused to believe it could be as simple as the tyres, but sure enough after swapping the front wheels with some spares the problem has disappeared!

I guess the tyres must be slightly different sizes! Didn't think it would have such an effect.
