Interesting find, thanks. But try it on UK roads (if it was legal to do so, of course) and, due to the car being so wide and the driver having much poorer visibility, the bikes will disappear as soon as there's a bit of traffic that the Merc can't see past.

It's also interesting to compare how much AMG man will have paid to keep a bike costing a few thousand at arms length on an empty road.

I'd be happy to be able to afford the Merc though!

 

I'd like to see how it compares to a tuned bussa or a ZX12 R, as R1's aren't exactly top speed machines.

But it is bloody quick though, and as above £5k bike vs £80k merc, big difference in bang per buck.

All those junctions on the 1st clip, jeeeez. Some old dear at any of those junctions looks left, looks right, all clear and pulls out, and a car and bike travelling at almost 85 meters a second, and probably beyond view at 3-4 seconds on those roads. BANG.......

 

Looks like a normal c63 amg, wonder what would happen against one of these.

I've been in a c63 amg and they are f ing quick cars quickest I've been in I think the torque is immense

 

I'd love the estate version but the fuel range is just laughable.
Great noise although maybe a tad too shouty.

 

Those 6.3 L Merc saloons seem to be associated with part time bouncers near me, the 'hard men' types who look like they do steroids and probably have some shady income streams.

 

I actually got a run in one at the start of the week (as a passenger)
They are indeed quick, and they don't half make a lovely sound.

 

I have had a drive in a friends CL63 AMG and that sounded fantastic, not that quick though. Have seen/heard an C63 AMG Black near where I live it is just the best thing I have heard........"dirty" is the only way I can describe it!!!!

A drove a friends C63 AMG Saloon and **** me! It was the quickest thing i've ever drove. The sound was immense.

What's the MPG like i said..... I check the trip computer..... 8MPG

Nope but when a car does under 200 miles on a tank, it's a PITA. Doesn't matter how well off you are, a thirsty engine needs a big tank.

I love the noise but its a bit OTT; I like a more subtle V8 woofle more.

 

I was just about to buy one then found out they're only a 6.2

 

Yup, driven a SL63 as well as a CL55 and SL55 and one thing they all suffer from (understandably) : traction.

Just a whiff of throttle on anything other than a bone dry road and the back end wants to spin up. I thought my Monaro was a bit loose on the rear, but these things are ridiculous to the point that using full throttle in moist conditions requires a full on risk assessment LOL.

 

Not convinced by the first clip. Never is that 299kph. Trees are just not moving fast enough.

 

Don't get me wrong, they are a quick car and feel quick to start but as with anything, you soon get used to it. Within a few weeks, Mrs 500 said it needed more power, I told her she needed a 1.0 Corsa for a week . They do hide their speed well, 70 feels like 40.

They do need a bigger tank, although running one to commute to Wales, it has averaged about 23 over a few k miles

Yep, I was behind one on the North Circ a couple of weeks back, late evening and the road was fairly empty and bone dry and this guy lit it up and the rear wheels were dancing about as he disappeared towards wembley, looked a right handful. I'd still want one though

 

Yep, he was in 6th touching the red line, so i'd say the speed was about right.

Oh and they're all mental.

Just I'd want the the estate version with a a proper manual gearbox and then my name would be on the waiting list.

Don't get me wrong the 7 speeder auto is a good 'box (not as good as the BMW 8 speed ). But I still don't like automated transmissions (never have done). And well, the more practical the car is the more it gets used.

 

I agree in general re. auto boxes.

Not sure about the box on the 63, but between DMS and Eurocharged both of whom have tweaked around with my ECU map and TCU map respectively my 5 speed auto is now very good especially in 'paddle' mode... well.. good for an auto I should say!
