Hi there,

I have a 2005 STI-UK Widetrack that has a 'worn out' universal joint in its rear prop shaft (diff end).
Is there any way of replacing just the joint and not the whole shaft?
The part is not listed separately, I spoke to the local Subaru garage who kindly gave me the price of the replacement shaft!!

Are there any companies that anyone can recommend that do 'pattern' ones? Or am I best to try and find one from a breaker? if the latter are there any recommended ones?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Had this done by a local company who do propshaft repairs. Cost £95.

 

Thank you for the reply, was beginning to think I am the only one to come across this problem!!
I have spoken to an engineer I know and explained the problem, and he is going to replace the failed 'hardy spicer' in my prop, thus saving me a LOT of £££'s!!
