Exclamation

After totaling my STi 3 I was wondering if I could claim for injuries to myself from my own insurance. There were no other parties involved and I am fully comp. I have been getting mixed replies to this question and was wondering if anyone has actually claimed in these circumstances. Obviously I will be contacting a solicitor about the matter but I am trying to find out nonetheless. Cheers for any help!

Question

All depends on the wording of your policy. If you are fully comp, it sounds reasonable. Look for phrases like "personal injury" and hope you don't have phrases like "exempt for claims on injuries due to insured's negligence".

You might well be able to get something - but probably not very much!

My policy would pay £7500 on my death or £5000 if I lost an eye/hand/foot. It would also pay medical expenses up to £200.

Check your policy - it may well be similar.

You won't be able to claim compensation for pain/suffering/loss of earnings etc. The policy will only cover your liability to third parties for that. So if someone else was injured as a result of your negligence (including one of your passengers) you would be covered.

If you lost a limb, sight, or some other part of your anatomy then yes.

Any idea of a Claims Direct type claim no.
