My blob STI has a 3" decatted cobra exhaust with 5" back box, it has one really small box in the middle, after having a long run out in the car today (first time since buying it 6 months ago) I've decided the exhaust is ridiculous and after doing 70mph in 6th for more than 15 mins on the dual carriage way if I had a gun I would have shot myself

Question is.....could I replace the back box for a smaller item say 3" exit, would that reduce the noise at all and would it affect the map? It's mapped to 330 obviously with the decat but I'm sure it had a different exhaust before the last owner fitted this one and I don't think the map has been tweaked since.

This is what I wanted to do, so I went to scoobyworld near were I live and they said change the back box and this would be fine as mine has ppp package. It would be quieter if I changed to i.e ninja.
Im still deciding.

 

Wouldn't a Cobra track friendly backbox fit straight onto that system?

 

This would interest me if it would actually get me down to a track friendly noise level with the rest of my current system? I quite fancy trying a trackday but at the minute the cars so loud my lass knows when to start my tea when I'm leaving my dads house 2 mile away

It should do, I run a full decat 3",with a revolution track friendly system (center and back box). When I got the car it was loud! At Cadwell it tested at 92db or 94db, can't remember exactly but I'll know again on Saturday
