What do you get for a teenager who doesn't really want anything and who has everything?

Can't get a phone as she is happy with what she has, can't get a new ipod as she is happy with what she has and can't get a new ipad as she is happy with what she has. We were just in America at Christmas so bought her loads of Hollister and Abercrombie clothes so she isn't that bothered about clothes.

So what do you buy ?

Does she like cars? I did a supercar experience day recently at Elvington and there was an area where children/teenagers boot Gallardos and Aston Martins around.

If not, I'm out!

 

She is 15 on her birthday so does that help

 

A toy ironing board and iron ?

It will get her used to the ropes for when she grows up and gets married.

 

I doubt it as she is really fecking clever and is already being asked to go to Oxford when she is of age

 

Does she like music? Would she like to play music instrument? Ask her. Then get her a guitar.

Now tell me that she has already got one.

 

This is easy,get her absolutely nothing.

 

Money. Then she can choose for herself.

 

No she doesn't but I doubt she will have the time to learn the guitar due to school work loads but that is a fantastic idea?

She did do the clarinet for a year and recorder

 

I just thought if she has been offered a place at Oxford,how about a pedal bike....

 

I would never just give her money as although its no big deal there is absolutely no thought in it! Most kids may like money but I prefer to give some thought

They find time, Steve. She may just learn it by herself, from friends or via Youtube etc., whenever she gets time. My kid did that. She always wrote poetry since very young age, and started to develop her own songs on guitar. It's so nice to hear her sing on her guitar when she comes back from uni. Playing music is a brilliant way of expressing oneself and relaxing with it. Doesn't matter is someone wants to become a musician or not in future.

IMO playing some music instrument at any age is very pleasurable.

 

This is going to drag it down? can I buy her a guitar that learns via the pc? Funny thing is I have an electric guitar in the loft but its not the same

Yeah. Depending upon your budget, you can spend any money from little to whatever on a good one. I'd go for the one not so expensive for the first time player. after buying the guitar, you can ask her if she'd like some lessons as well, if she can fit them in. Mine didn't, although I would have liked her to have them. Ah well. Anyway, as I say, they learn themselves by various means, the kids of this generation are living in fast age.

My daughter's ex-boyfriend learnt it all by himself via Youtube etc. and he is absolutely fantastic on guitar. This kid's rock band has been featured in music mags etc. Not a single lesson he took from anyone. So, if there's a will, there's a way. As I say, not all guitar loving kids want to become musicians for living. My lass has no ambition of this type, she just enjoys the company of her guitar. Now she has upgraded her guitar, of course. Her guitar goes everywhere with her, she loves it so much.

 

Just spend some quality time with her.

When I was 15, was just happy to have made it through another year of polluted smog, paint made of lead, water piped through lead pipes, cars with no exhaust emission control, no health and safety, no anti-bacterial wipes for this and that, cars had no seat belts, no dash padding, crap brakes etc, etc,

Something to put it in. Girls love bags.
Make-up bags, hand bags, shoulder bags, a nice assortment should please her.

 

tickets to a one direction gig perhaps? or whoever floats her boat musically. going to a concert is always an enjoyable day. i went to see radiohead at glasgow green a few years back and even though the rain came on it was an awsome gig.

Or find some overseas charity that will take some money but keep her in the loop as to how and why it is spent. Give her a sense of how the non-Oxford crowd live.

Could you not get her a nice piece of jewellery or a watch? If you get the right thing, it will show thought was put in to the present as it is quite personal.
