Default Gearbox oil? Help

Hello people, maybe a stupid question I know but my gearbox oil is too low and needs topping up, but I don't know what oil the dealer used when It last went in for an oil change, (I would hope they used the correct oil) But my question is can I just use a different oil i.e. a different make? as its unlikely I'm going to top up with the same make the dealer used as I don't know what they used. Is it ok to mix two different oils together or would you not recommend it? I would appreciate and help? Cheers Mark... (Car is a Hawkeye STi)

Why not ask the dealer what they used?
Or just change it completely the. You know what you have.

More importantly why is the gearbox oil low, especially as it has been serviced?

Take it back to the dealer and ask them to

a) top up the gearbox
b) check for leaks

Have had Imprezas for years and they do not lose gearbox oil unless something is wrong. And you want to fix it now before it becomes REALLY expensive.
