right,i was on my way to scoobyworld travelling up the m1 @ 70mph in 5th traffic was building so i dropped it into 4th then continued for a while then selected 3rd to overtake a lorry and a horrible fast dry clicking sound has now appeared when de-accelerating,we had it up on the ramps at scoobyworld and the prop/shafts/rear diff/engine all sound fine but the box is making a right whining sound,it drove back fine and selects all gears fine but it sounds horrible,when in 5th dropping the speed from say 60mph it sounds like a tractor

this is my everyday car so need a replacement asap

what boxes can i use?

do i have to use one with the exact same code as mine?

my gearbox code at the minute is TY754VN5AA

Same thing happened to my newage wrx years ago.

 

it always comes when im trying to save for summat else,its hard to describe the noise-do you get what i mean when i say a dry-ish clicking sound?

 

Mine destroyed the synchros. I lost a few gears.
Weigh up the extra cost of a six speed it may not be as much as you think

 

well it would have to be the non dccd set up,pole position sell em for £1450 when they have them plus £300ish to fit
