Has this been done? I am not 100% sure but I remember someone telling me that all needs doing is enlarging the bottom holes on the struts to make them fit in a 5x100 hub car.

Alternatively, wouldn't removing the tabs/"ears" (not sure what the pieces of metal that bolt onto the hubs are called) and having custom made ones welded solve the problem?

 

Just read a thread about doing this, although I think it was an american site. It stated that all needs doing is weld the holes up in 114's and redrill to suit 100.

 

Foivo, with the right machine shop everything is possible!! But why to put yourself in such an 'adventure' ?

The 5x114 hub is thicker where it bolts with the strut, so either you cut these 'ears' and re-weld them (which is very dangerous for the seals and oil inside the strut and mostly will damage it) or make two small plates and fit them left and right on the hub, which for me is most proper.

Regarding the position of the two holes, I think that you can open (extent) the lower holes of the strut to match the pattern of the one on the hub.

 

Sounds like an easy solution to me, just make 4 shim plates and drill out 4 holes. What about the top mounts?

Top mounts are the same for both patterns, 5x100 & 5x114.

 

Zisi yes, I have talked to two places that have done this before a few times, Chevron Motorsport and Tracktive Solutions, they use shims as you say.

It's just because I have found a RB320 suspension that I was thinking of using but for the money it will cost I can have custom made stainless steel Bilstein PSS coilovers.

Arg, decisions decisions....

 

I think Foivo that you should go for the PSS. The 320RB would not be much more different from the one you have already on your car.
