The compressor is not a subaru part its an aftermarket one. My guess is that the air con compressor was replaced and a tensioner modified to suit? I have never seena tensioner like it but others may have and may be able to shed more light on it.

That's a sandern compresser commonly used on scooby

That's used by Subaru. No car manufacture makes there own compresser what's it for ? Ill compare it to my bugeye In a bit
