grooves in cams ??
after tearing down her indoors motor ,have noticed that the cams in the left head are grooved on the centre camshaft bearing location , both exhaust and inlet have this groove
just curious as to why really and if anyone knows as the right side head camshaft doesnt have these grooves ??
is it because of the way the oil is directed around engine and maybe that side is last in line so to say or something else

curious as not seen it mentioned before even after a quick search
sure there must be some technical explenation as to why ?

left bank cam clearly see the groove

right side cam (no groove)

hahahah maybe so ,but im not talking about damaged cam bearings that have been scored due to swarf etc !!
quite the opposite these are like deep recessed grooves ,almost like piston ring style groove
gonna grab some pics and put them up so ppl can see what i mean and if anyone else has a motor in bits can they have a peek at theres for me and post here if yours are same ??
