Hello there,
When I drive at 95 m.p.h.+, my scooby seems very light on it's feet indeed and seems to be seriously affected by crosswinds. I find I need to put a lot of steering correction in to keep the car on the road. Is this due to the light weight, or a lack of downforce?
Can anyone tell me if this is common to all scoobies, or just mine?

Cheers,
"(not so fast now)" WRX!

Try getting some wheels on your car
No more toes and heels scraping on the floor
Might go a bit faster too!

No spoilers or splitters on my scoob, doesn't adversley affect straight line handling.
Run with comparably low pressures in the back tyres as the back end can feel a bit light in fast corners.

Mine is just the opposite
My car feels stable and rock solid at speed, it does not get 'light' at all, even over twice the legal limit.

are your tyre pressures high and or suspension worn?

Mines a MY97 UK wagon - feels fine at 120, a bit light maybe but nothing drastic - certainly more stable than other car I've driven (which is not saying much ). Certainly OK for a wagon with a large side area and dubious aerodynamics.

Have you had your wheel alignment checked?

Never had any real problems with the car feeling light, especially driving fast on motorways. If the tyre pressures are all out I definietly feel it through the steering - feels really light and vague. This is usually when the pressure's too low.

Unhappy

Bit worried now!
Tyre pressures are O.K.
Strange really, It could be because my last car was rock steady at 140 ( Toyota Supra Mk.IV Twin Turbo ) and I'm not used to such a lightweight car as a scooby.
I guess I'll get the suspension checked over by a mechanic to be safe though.
Thanks for your replies,
Philip.
