Default Subaru Impreza WRX 2008

Hi all, still considering a 2008 WRX. I have read some horror stories in relation to 2008-2011 2.5ltr engines failing re the pistons. Is this the case with the STI only or the WRX as well? if anybody has any advice re simple upgrades for the newer WRX, i would be grateful. Jason.

Haven't heard of wrx engine going. Fix is a map update, check the car has had ecu updated or been properly mapped by a specialist.

As Carlh says, 2008+ engine failure have been with the STi model rather than the WRX. If you read through the 2008 engine failure thread I think you will on find failed STis

Before I bought my STi I took a WRX for a test drive, great drive, real Q car.

Regards upgrades depends on what you are looking for, bodywork, wheels, brakes engine etc. All are available if you look around.
