Default Warranty And Sevicing

Car is due for a service at end of November and the nearest Subaru main dealer is the neck end of 50 miles away. Are Subaru within their legal rights to insist that the car be serviced by one of their dealers to maintain the three year warranty or will the stamp in the book from any reputable dealer suffice ?

On most makes now, as long as you use OE parts, done to there schedule, by a vat registered garage you should be ok.

Thanks for that. From reading the service history booklet, it does appear to confirm what you have said.

This is correct, but care has to be taken to stick to the correct schedule & parts or the warranty may be void. Google Block Exemption for more info.

Ask the dealer to collect it from you.

As Paul all ready pointed out. As long as the servicing garage is vat registered & uses oem parts there's no problem using independent garages. The only small issue is the independent cant look up any outstanding recalls or campaigns on the vehicle & can't carry out the quarterly required ecu updates if applicable.

Some garages who arnt familier with Subarus can make a hash of things. We have an impreza in with 16 bent valves due to leaving a bolt loose in the timing cover above the water pump. You guessed it dropped out and slipped the timing.

Just make sure they know the apples & you'll be fine
