Default STi Hawk JDM or STi Blob UK

May I ask from those who have had one or both which would be the better car to own. Even if both were modded the same - e.g. coilovers, remap etc

JDM over a UK any day, just a far better car tbh, twin scroll picks up from as low as 1500rpm (you are talking 1k more on a 2.5 or nearly 2k more on a 2ltr, standard of course ) but becareful of which JDM hawk you go for, the one for 10k in scotland is meant to be a bit of a dog, had lots of paintwork etc.

I would say it depends on
1 your budget (for the car)
2 your age (for insurance)
3 your budget (petrol)

The reason being that a UK car is cheaper on insurance and petrol because I'm sure a JDM (twinscroll) is a more thirsty version. (I'll stand to be corrected on that though)

Be very careful when looking at it as another member has seen it and thought it might have been in a bump.

As above the JDM cars are far and away a much better car than there watered down soft uk counterparts,But you will pay a premium for the JDM over the uk,and its def worth it if you have the cash.

I found the 2.0l Twin Scroll on my JDM Leggy GT Spec B was far better than my UK WRX Bugeye. The insurance was also the same. I know of others who saw no difference either.

If you can get the JDM insured OK, then I'd totally go for it over the UK car.

Jdm was no more to insure for me. About the above car for sale what difference does it make if its had an accident loads of cars have, as long as its repaired to a good standard and priced correct I wouldn't worry about it. If repaired cars are no good then we wouldn't have repair shops. Different if its been wrote off in the past but normal properly repaired damage shouldn't make it a bad car.

Sorry if this sounds like a noob question.
But is a JDM better only because it is faster out of the box? or do they have better parts standard? better brakes or interior for example?

Would a JDM still be a lot better than say a nicely tuned 350bhp UK STI?

You are absolutely right cars are repairable and that is why we have repair workshops. However like most people I wouldnt want to buy a car which had been in an accident, even so much if you knew about it.......its never the same car.

each to there own.

They are better specc'd cars to start with, the engines are twin scroll (from 2003 onwards) so produce more torque and faster spooling lower down the rev range which makes the car more drivable.
In gear times are quicker due to the higher torque and better spool of the turbo's.
Lag is near none existent on these compared to a single scroll turbo'd car, and put a 350 v 350bhp UK v JDM, the JDM will dominate more even though the 0-100 times may be similar, its mid range and lack of lag that makes you smile in a JDM over a UK
